Campuhan Ridge Hike

We woke up early and took a lovely hike up on a high ridge between 2 rivers. Gorgeous views from all sides. Elsa did great! It was probably a five mile hike and she barely complained (less than her mama!). It was hot but there were spots of shade and breezes along the way. We passed many tourists and also plenty of local Balinese. We met an elder Balinese man under a tree about halfway up -- we shared some shade and our orange and soft coconut bread. We met a young Bali guy with a walkie-talkie looking for kids who were stealing away for kisses. He was paid to bust them for making-out on holy temple land. Sharing some pics below!

Ahhhhhh. Fresh young coconut with lime and frangipani!

  1. those carvings are so wonderfully intricate, I could look at them for hours. Isn't it funny, though, how common it is for sexuality and "holy places" to be in conflict?
